Rebuilding Nepal – Slide Show

Namlo International committed to participate in rebuilding Nepal after the devastating earthquakes of 2015. Namlo’s most recent project was the Raghu Secondary School in Raghu Ward 9, Tanahu. Like all great stories, there were twists and turns and last minute surprises. The community of Raghu broke ground on this school in February of 2017. We had expected the school to be completed in July, however, given the location of the school in the remote mountains in the district of Tanahu, transporting materials proved more challenging than expected. The single road to reach the community was blocked on several occasions due to extreme rain or because of the efforts to increase Nepal’s transportation infrastructure by improving the road. The area where the school was built provided additional topographic challenges that required re-designing the structure from a rectangular building to a square building. There were also several challenges during the rainy season that slowed progress. When it rained, the ground became very muddy and slippery making it harder and more dangerous to carry the materials like rocks and cement to the building site.

Despite all of this, the community worked hard for their children.

Many of the community members donated their time to the construction of this school, making it possible to keep costs low and to invest the limited resources in high-quality materials. Without the commitment of the community in Raghu and the generosity of Namlo’s supporters, this school would not be ready for the students to begin learning in an updated, modern learning facility.

Thank you for your support. We are excited to continue this progress with the Aronodaya secondary school currently in Construction. If you would like to support the construction of much needed educational infrastructure in Nepal, click here to make your donation today.
