Laura Welland Joins Namlo International

We are please to announce that Ms. Laura Welland is joining Namlo International as our Director for Technical Projects.  Laura graduated cum laude from Miami University in 1980 with a BS in Electromechanical Engineering.

During her early professional life, she spent 7 years in the toy industry designing and overseeing production of toys, including off-shore work, followed by 10 years in the medical device industry, managing the engineering and documentation department of a contract design/build firm.  She then ran her own consulting firm for several years before leaving engineering to get a degree in jazz performance from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.

Ms. Welland returned to engineering and project management in 2006, inspired by a trip to Nepal while trying to adopt an 8-year-old orphan with serious medical needs.  She has been to Nepal dozens of times since then, engaged in the following works:

Laura Welland with NepalisLaura is a long-term friend of Namlo International and has volunteered her help on numerous projects including the Sabhung water project, and conducting a damage assessment after the Nepal Earthquake of 2015.  It is in this same spirit of volunteering that she is joining Namlo to serve in an official capacity of our Director of Technical Projects.
