CURRENT PROJECTS

After completing elementary grades, Namlo offers top students the opportunity to complete high school so that they are better prepared to give back to their communities and have a brighter future.

The top performing students on end-of-year exams at our schools in Nepal are offered the chance to continue their education at a private English boarding school in the region. We seek to expand this program to Nicaragua and to all communities where Namlo builds schools.

In addition students who continue their education and maintain high standards of achievement in government schools receive help from Namlo for supplies, uniforms, and tutoring on a case by case basis.

All students give back to their community after they complete their education at whatever level and each scholarship student returns to their village to teach younger students during their summer vacation.

How you can help with these programs:

Donate: We seek contributions so that the scholarship program can be expanded to all of our communities so students have an opportunity for a top notch education beyond their village school.

Volunteer: Tutor our scholarship students in English [currently in Nepal only]. Contact us for dates and costs.

Donate as a Sister schools: Classes or entire schools in our sister school program sometimes choose to raise the funds for a scholarship donation. [See Sister Schools]

COMPLETED/ONGOING PROJECTS

Scholarships. Yarmasing, Nepal. Recently, Changa Sherpa became the first girl from the village to take final exams to complete grade 12 in the government schools, thanks to support from the scholarship program. Several other scholarship students have completed grades 10 and 11. The first private school scholarship students are now entering grade 7.

A total of 24 students are currently benefiting from the scholarship program. All of these children are making plans to further their education. When asked about their "ambitions," they say they hope to become teachers, nurses, computer scientists, accountants, agricultural experts, and doctors.

Their accomplishments and ambitions are the result of the generosity of Namlo donors.
